Rondi McClure

Rondi McClure - On the bank of the Kenai River in Alaska with 5 SalmonRondi McClure, considered one of the top women guides in the industry likes to hear from other women and girls active in outdoor sports and raising children in rural environments.

Rondi grew up in southern California waterskiing and surfing, doing anything that had to do with being on the water. So when she moved to Alaska in 1986 it only made sense that she ended up living on the Kenai River, which she thinks is the most beautiful place in Alaska. She sure never pictured herself while growing up, living out in the woods in a little log cabin raising kids, but that's how it ended up. She loves being on the river and married someone who lives to fish, so there you have it, both doing what they love to do which is fish and play on the Kenai River.

Their kids grew up with a crazy perception of life, by hanging around the fire pit at night listening to all the grandparents and retired clients telling fish stories. Their son Joe decided he would just grow up and retire, so he too could sit and tell fish stories. He has since learned he needs to work hard in order to get to that point in his life. So he is in the process of accumulating his own fishing stories by working in the family business with his parents and grandparents.

His sister Mandi on the other hand decided that she likes the opportunities to experience her fishing more remote and is working on obtaining her pilots license so she can fly into secluded spots to catch her favorite giant rainbow trout. But she has never been known to turn down a seat in the boat when available to catch a salmon.

Rondi's dream in life was to have a family business so she could work and play with the people she loves the most, and her life has far exceeded her expectations as they have had the opportunity to meet and become friends with people from all over the world. These people that are now just a part of their extended family.

Mac Mcclure's Official Title is Fish Cleaner Extraodinaire. Though Mac is the undisputed master of fish cleaning, he can also claim to be a pretty fair angler in his own right. Not to be outdone by his son, he claims to have caught even more, bigger fish than his son, in less time, before Steve was even born of course. Mac is the man you will find at the end of the day cheerfully cleaning fish like the expert he is.
